THE NIGHT REVEALS THE WAY
When darkness covers the Amazon, a new reality emerges. Every night the endless creatures of the forest shift its landscapes with otherworldly colors, shapes and sounds. There, we dive, with a scientific and artistic eye, seeking to document in an innovative way the wild inhabitants of the dark.
FROM DUSK TO DAWN
With funding from the National Geographic Society and support from Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, we brought together a multidisciplinary team of researchers, artists, explorers, storytellers, to experience the Caxiuanã National Forest and its tropical nights. It was an exquisite experience, with incredible discoveries and moments of pure contemplation of a rich and preserved Amazon.
INNOVATIVE METHODOLOGIES
Creatively combining scientific and artistic methods to document nature, we took three methodologies to the Amazon, observing nocturnal fauna with new eyes: ultraviolet-induced visible fluorescense photography, night drone flights to survey the canopy and behavior time-lapses. The results are still being processed and are promising, reminding us how much we still don't know about the life and history of the beings that inhabit the largest rainforest in the world.
THE FANTASTIC TEAM
Uniting art and science is the soul of our work. We took that spirit to the next level during this expedition, by making it all in collaboration with a fantastic multidisciplinary team. They are the scientists Pedro Peloso, Silvia Pavan, Fernanda Santos and João Herculano, the storytellers Daniel Venturini and Marina Angeli and the little Lia and Davi.
AMAZON RELICARIES
Surrounded by the night, between dusk and dawn, we captured images and sounds, imagination and poetry, interviews and videos, in the quest to turn our experience into a reliquary of the Amazon. By the hands of Daniel and Marina, from ECO360, and with content produced by all team members, this will be a true time capsule, with 360º scenarios of the real forest packed with all the experiences we lived there.
